Off-Campus Access to Databases and Online Resources?

Subscription databases and some online sites are only available to WOU students, faculty and staff. An individual's Pawprint username and password authorizes access to the restricted links.   Searching in the catalog, Summit, library Web pages, and most external links are available to everyone.

Kic Scanner (in Hamersly Library)

The library has a brand new walk-up scanner! It is located behind the information desk on the first floor. It allows for immediate scanning (no log-in necessary) to PDF (including word-searchable PDF), JPG, PNG, rich text, and …audio file! Yes, it will take text and convert it to a computer-read mp3 file.

You can then output the scanned documents to:

  • an email address
  • Google Drive (Google Docs)
  • a USB drive
  • a QR Code to scan with your smartphone or tablet

All functions are accessed through a user-friendly touch-screen. The scanner also has these user-friendly features:

  • Face-up scanning
  • Oversized scanning, up to 17” x  24”
  • Adjustable platform, lays flat or cradles a book
  • SmartDock, for direct, wireless transfer to smartphone or tablet

Digital Media Center (in Hamersly Library)

The Digital Media Center (DMC), located in the northeast corner of the second floor of Hamersly Library, offers the tools and support for students, faculty, and staff to create their own digital media. Whether for video or audio production, desktop design, website creation, media conversion, scanning, or CD/DVD duplication, the DMC offers the campus community an array of specialized equipment all the hours the library is open.
We also offer two bookable Digital Production Rooms (HL 221 & 222), as well as drop-in technology tutoring hours.  (Please see Computing Services for technical support.)  Faculty and staff needing training, digitization services, or website and publishing help should check out our Faculty & Staff Services page. Equipment checkout, for use outside the library, is handled at the first floor circulation desk. A list of available equipment, as well as some helpful information about how to use the equipment, can be found here.
