COM 111 - Public Speaking: Finding Articles

Articles and Databases

WOU has a variety of databases covering multiple subjects and disciplines. Below are a few good starting points:

  • Academic Search Premier has newspapers, magazines, and academic articles.

  • CQ Researcher provides reports that examine contemporary social and political issues. These in-depth reports cover a single topic and include a background history of the topic, pro-con viewpoints, as well as maps, charts, and graphs.

  • Academic OneFile has newspapers, magazines, and academic articles on many topics.

  • For education-related topics, try ERIC, which has articles and reports on topics including adult education, continuing education, literacy standards, multicultural education, secondary education, teaching methods and much more.

To find other databases for your topic area:

  • Go to the library web site www.wou.edu/library
  • Click the "Articles" tab on the center search widget
  • Choose your subject from the "Recommended Databases By Subject" pull-down menu in the lower-left of the widget
