Digital Media Center -- Hamersly Library (2nd Floor)

he Digital Media Center (DMC), located in the northeast corner of the second floor of Hamersly Library, offers the tools and support for students to create their own digital media.

Digital Production Room – Audio Recording and Editing (HL 221)

  

An iMac with Camtasia Studio 7, Adobe Creative Cloud (Audition, Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign, etc), GarageBand, Audacity, FinalCut Pro 10, and iMovie 11

A PC with Camtasia Studio 7, Adobe Creative Cloud, Dragon Naturally Speaking 12, and Start/Stop transcription software (including pedal)

A multi-media deck for importing MiniDV, VHS, DVD, CD, and cassette

ProCast USB Microphone and Audio Interface (a mini mixer with inputs for external sources) hooked up to both the Mac and the PC (via USB switch)

PGE181 Shure Microphone hooked up to the Mac (on adjustable stand) and plugged into the ProCast mixer

A Blue Yetti USB microphone for recording narration attached to the PC

Check this room’s availability via the university’s Astra reservation system.  The room may be booked by calling the Hamersly Library Information Desk at 503-838-8899 (cannot be booked online). Same-day booking not allowed, though the room is available on a drop-in basis if not reserved.

The room remains locked at all times. Keys are checked out at the library Checkout Desk. It is strongly encouraged that patrons who have not used the rooms before make arrangements with DMC staff for an orientation to the equipment (dmc@wou.edu).

All equipment is available for self-service use during the library’s open hours.

Need pointers on creating a movie with iMovie?  Tips on designing a website with Dreamweaver?  Stop by during drop-in technology tutoring hours when a Student Technology Assistant is available to answer your questions.  Help may be available during other hours the library is open, but the DMC makes every effort to have help on hand during the scheduled drop-in hours
