Captioning--Video: Open Captioning vs. Closed Captioning

Open Captioning

Open Captioning is when the captioning is recorded on the same track as the audio and visual tracks. It cannot be turned off. Open captioning allows for more control over caption location, size, color, and font.

Closed Captioning

Closed Captioning is when the captioning is recorded on a different track from the audio and visual tracks. It can be toggled on and off as needed. Closed captioning does not allow control over caption location, size, color, and font.
