Hamersly Library offers a variety of instructional services, customized to fit the curricular, social and technological needs of the specific course, including:

    In-person Instruction

    We'll cover the skills & resources you want your students to learn

    Where

    • Most instruction is held in a computer lab in the library
    • Students get hands-on experience using library and non-library information sources

    What

    • Customized to meet the research needs of your course & assignments
    • Instruction can include:
      • Demonstration of library and non-library resources
      • Source evaluation
      • In-class exercises or assignments
      • Time for students to explore their own topics with librarian assistance

    When

    • We'll work with you to schedule instruction when it fits best with assignments
    • To schedule a session, contact your subject librarian (at left)
    • Please request at least a week in advance, to allow time for instruction planning
     

    Online Instruction

    Teaching Online?

    We can create a online library session that can be embedded in your Moodle (WOU Online) page. Customized to fit your class needs.

    Example: Psychology Online Instruction.

     

    Online Research Guides

    Customized to your specific class or assignments

    Guides can include:

    • Websites, blogs, podcasts, library databases, or any other useful resource for students
    • Tutorials to help students learn how to use a particular resource or gain a specific research skill
    • Handouts and library-related assignments

    Students can access class research guides from the library home page under Class Stuff: Class Research Guides or you can link to it in your Moodle page.
