WOU Writing Center

Try browsing an issues-oriented database to find out about hot topics:

Opposing Viewpoints

  • Quick Tip: Click on "Browse Reports" to see a list of recent report topics


Other sources of inspiration:

  • Think of a topic that interests you. Can you turn it into a research paper?
  • Ask friends, classmates & your instructor
  • Scan news sources (in print or online) for ideas. Examples:
  • Look at editorials to see what topics people are talking about. Example:
    • New York Times (click on "Sunday Review" on the left side to see the week's editorials)
