Chelle Batchelor, Dean of Library and Academic Innovation, will host WOU faculty and Imarisha in two follow-up sessions to brainstorm and share ideas for further integrating Black History into the WOU curriculum.

Here's a Q & A:

Q: Do I need to attend both sessions in order to participate?

A: No. Both sessions will follow the same structure, so you can choose one or the other. (9am-11am or 12pm-2pm).

Q: Do I need to attend the keynote webinar on Thursday May 12th at 3pm in order to participate in the Friday sessions?

A: No. The webinar will provide an overview of Oregon's Black history, which will likely stimulate ideas for the Friday discussions. But, you're welcome to join us on Friday even if you can't make it to the webinar on Thursday.

Q: What exactly will we be talking about in these sessions?

A: YOUR questions and ideas, with an external expert to bounce them off of. The overarching guiding question for these sessions will be, "How do we integrate Black history, and other histories of race, trauma, and oppression, across the curriculum? What strengths do we bring? What barriers might we encounter?"

Q: Will the sessions be recorded?
A: The keynote webinar will be, but the Friday brainstorming sessions will not be. The planning group wants to create as safe a space as possible for these discussions. However, several people have agreed to help me take notes, so we can anonymously capture key takeaways and record any next steps or future actions that might emerge.

Q: How do I sign up for a session?

A: RSVP here!
