Top Psychology Databases

These are the major databases for psychology research.

PsycINFO
Indexes and summarizes more than 2 million scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations in psychology and related disciplines. 97 percent of the material is peer-reviewed. The database also includes information about the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, law and others.
PsycARTICLES
This database contains the full-text of more than 40,000 articles from 53 journals, 45 published by the American Psychological Association (APA) and 8 from allied organizations. Included are all articles, letters to the editor and errata from each journal. Covers general psychology and specialized, basic, applied, clinical and theoretical psychology research.
Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection
Indexes and provides full-text for 575 publications, including nearly 550 peer-reviewed journals. The database covers topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.
Psychology Collection
Students, psychologists, counselors, counselees, behavioral scientists, and other researchers will glean relevant information from the thoughts, views, discoveries, and reports found in over 3.1 million articles. Powered by InfoTrac, Psychology Collection brings together information found in nearly 500 journals, with a strong emphasis on fulltext titles cited in PsycINFO.
Google Scholar
Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for academic research including journal articles, books, technical reports, conference proceedings, and other scholarly material.

Created and maintained by the National Library of Medicine, this database indexes and provides abstracts for articles published in more than 4,800 current biomedical journals. Covers clinical medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, health care administration, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.
SpringerLink
Provides online full-text access to selected titles to which the library subscribes.
PrimateLit
Indexes scientific literature on nonhuman primates (prosimians, monkeys and apes). The database covers all publication categories (articles, books, abstracts, technical reports, dissertations, book chapters, etc.) and many topics, including behavior, colony management, ecology, reproduction, field studies, disease models, veterinary science, psychology, physiology, pharmacology, evolution, taxonomy, developmental and molecular biology, genetics and zoogeography.

Psychological Tests

Identifying tests related to your topic:

Search for articles on your topic and note the names of the tests they used in their experiments
Conduct a simple search in PsycINFO for the single thing you want to test (stress, depression, etc.), and in the Limit Your Results section, select the Classification Code: 2220 Tests & Testing

Finding a specific test when you know the name of it:

Find the original article where the author(s) of the test report on its development and purpose.
When a researcher uses someone else's test in their own work, they may publish all or part of the test in their research article. Search for articles that mention the test you are looking for.
Some tests are treated like books, because they come with manuals on how to use them. Try searching the WOU Library and Summit, using the name of the test.
