APA Style Guide: Home

NOTE: 6th Edition

This style guide is for APA 6th edition. In 2020, the APA released the 7th edition of their style guide.

Unless instructed to use this older format, please refer to our APA 7th edition style guide.

About This Guide

The APA style provides a way to cite (give credit) to the web pages, articles, books and other sources used in research. This guide will help you with creating in-text citations and references, formatting your paper, and other useful information.

In-Text CitationsIn-text citations are brief references to your sources and indicate where the information came from and when it was published. They appear in the body of your work.

Reference PageThe reference page appears at the end of your paper/project and provides detailed information on all sources cited in-text.

Paper Formatting
APA requires papers be set up using a specific format. A sample paper is included in this section.

APA Blog/Manual of StyleThe APA blog provides answers to a variety of difficult APA citation questions. The APA Manual of Style is the official publication manual.
