This database contains more than 450,000 full-text biographies and obituaries, and more than 32,000 photographs of notable individuals. Content is drawn from many highly respected reference sources published by H. W. Wilson and others, including Current Biography, the World Author Series, Nobel Prize Winners, and World Artists. Search by name, profession or field of renown, title, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity, titles of works, birth date, death date, keyword, and availability of images.

Find articles published in more than 400 sources covering art history, crafts, computer graphics, folk art graphic arts, sculpture, painting, photography and textiles. Covers articles published since 1984. In addition to articles, this database indexes reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals. To find articles published between 1929 and 1984, consult the print version of Art Index in our Reference collection.
Fine Arts & Music Collection This link opens in a new window
Search more than 5 million articles published in fine arts and music sources. More than 150 of the journals in the Fine Arts and Music Collection are covered in the Art Index and the Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) indexes and are available in full-text.
JSTOR Arts & Sciences This link opens in a new window
Provides online full-text access to the archives of more than 1300 scholarly journals, some of which date from the 19th century. JSTOR does not include recently published articles. Due to publisher restrictions, there is a gap, typically from 1 to 5 years, between the most recently published journal issue and the issues available in JSTOR.

Google Arts and Culture

High-resolution images and videos of artwork and cultural objects from museums and other collection sites throughout the world. Explore by artist, by collection, by medium, even by predominant color! Great for exploration while staying highly relevant.

Google Images

Find even more by doing a targeted search in Images. For example, Google Arts and Culture only displays one painting of Jacob Lawrence's Library Series, but an Images search provides many more of them. The broader result set often includes lots of less relevant content, and images may be high-resolution or standard web-resolution.
