Course Reserves - For Faculty

If there is an item you would like placed on course reserve, please print and fill out the course reserves form below, or fill one out at the Checkout Desk.

  • For department or individually owned materials, please deliver the items and your forms to the Checkout Desk, or feel free to send them via campus mail.
  • For library owned items, our staff will pull and process them once a reserves form has been received.

For any questions, please contact the Checkout Desk at 503-838-8902

Course Expiration

When the course reserve materials reach the expiration date listed in the reserves form, the materials will either be returned to the faculty/department, or placed back in their respective collection.

If you or someone from your department will be teaching the course long-term, please write in a later 'course end' date (e.g. 1-3 years). This helps cut down on delays as a result of items being mailed to faculty at the end of one term and submitted again for the next.

At any point, faculty may come in or call the Checkout Desk to have their personally owned items removed from Course Reserves and returned to them.

The library provides various methods for all students in a class to share access to materials. Each method has different advantages and honors copyright laws and guidelines.

  • Physical reserves (print books, DVDs, kits, etc.) can be owned by the library or the instructor. The instructor selects an appropriate loan length for each item. Physical reserves are appropriate for in-person and hybrid courses, but the library's quarantining protocol (24-hours) will slow turnover.
  • Ebooks purchased by the library may have licenses that allow for multiple concurrent users. Adding ebooks to course reserve lists is appropriate for all types of course delivery.
