Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

We serve the people of Oregon to empower and support Asian and Pacific Islanders through our special roles as policy advisors to Oregon state policy makers and leaders. The OCAPIA is a catalyst that empowers partnerships between state government and our communities in rural and urban areas to ensure success for all Asian and Pacific Islander Oregonians by addressing issues at the policy level.

APANO was founded in 1996 with significant support from the Immigrant Refugee Community Organization in Multnomah County under the principle that we are stronger together, and that our communities would benefit from more coordinated leadership particularly in areas of public policy advocacy. As of 2016, APANO became a 501c4 organization, and we extend our deep appreciations to the Immigrant Refugee Community Organization for its foresight and continued support. In addition we wish to acknowledge the following organizations, Oregon Fair Share Research and Education Fund, Center for Intercultural Organizing, Western States Center and the Rural Organizing Project for extending organizational support and mentorship over the last 16 years.

Oregon Rises Above Hate is the result of a coming together of AANHPI (Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander) community leaders who want to defeat anti-Asian hate through targeted government action, broad educational programs, and by harnessing the power of the entire AANHPI community and all Oregonians statewide.
