Demographic Data - Big Picture 
The following sites with help with finding the overall health and demographic for your state/region. 
Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME) - Research Analysis Tab / Us Health: Scroll down to US State Territorial to get stat info / use other articles listed if helpful
Country Health Rankings & Roadmaps / Health Data / By Location Select state then scroll down past county data to get an overview of the state.
US Census- American Community Survey / Data Note - The US Government is not making this available during the government shut down.
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics - Economy at a Glance - Regions, States, & Areas at a Glance Select your state or region. Note- past reports are available the but the US Government is not updating reports during the government shutdown. 
 
Finding Specific Data about Topic - Advanced Google Searching
You can add site:.domain to search specific internet domains for additional information.
Example: unhoused population Colorado site:.gov 

Common domains:
US Federal, State, Local government = .gov
Non-profit organizations (typically) = .org 
US higher education institutions = .edu  
Commercial sites = .com 
Open to wide variety of businesses and people = .net 
You can add site:.domain filetype:PDF to search specific internet domains for additional information published in a PDF (reports, articles, etc...). 
 
Example: unhoused population Colorado site:.org filetype:PDF
