SPED 628 Math Methods for Diverse Learners: Guided Library Session

Welcome to the guided library session for SPED 628 Math Methods for Diverse Learners. You will have a notes worksheet to complete. Make sure to save the PDF as you complete it so that your answers are saved to the worksheet. If you prefer, you can print it and write in the answers.

You will also be directed to complete several activities throughout this process. For this, create a Word/Google Doc. Save as SPED 628 Library Session Activity Sheet.  For the activities in this guided library session, I would suggest using research topics you can apply to this class. Activities will be noted as:

Find one article in either Education Full-Text or PsycINFO related to your topic.   

What is the title? 
What year was it published? 

Use the abstract to answer: 

     What topic was explored
     How the topic was explored 
     What were Results and findings
     What was Conclusion/Next steps         
     List keywords: 

Copy the APA citation from the using the Cite option from the Article page. On page two of you Word/Google Doc Center and Type References -- add the citation. You will be adding additional references for this session. Add those additional references here. Answer the additional questions for this session under your answers on page 1 (only your citation will go under the Reference section you just created.

Using one of the articles you found in an Education Full Text / PsycINFO or Google Scholar find one article from the reference page and answer the following questions: 

Original Article Title: 

How many Articles cited the original article:

Article Title from reference page:
How many articles cited (use the cited by number) the article from the reference page?

Copy the APA citation from the from the Cite option  -- Add to your reference page  in alphabetic order by 1st authors last name. 

 

Use the other title of the Article you found in Education Full Text/PsycINFO or Google Scholar and answer the following questions:

How many Articles cited the original article:

Select the Cited by option under the original article title and find an article related to your topic. 

Article Title from Cited-by page:
How many articles cited (use the cited by number) the article from the reference page?

Copy the APA citation from the from the Cite option -- Add to your reference page in alphabetic order by 1st authors last name.

Find a book related to your topic available at WOU. What is the title, location, and call number? 
Copy the citation from the Book information page -- Add to your reference page  in alphabetic order by 1st authors last name. 

 

Find a book related to your topic available from Summit. What is the title? Copy the citation from the Book information page -- Add to your reference page  in alphabetic order by 1st authors last name. 

 

Find an eBook related to your topic.  What is the title.  Copy the citation from the Book information page -- Add to your reference page  in alphabetic order by 1st authors last name.  

Part 4 Citing in the APA

Complete Activity -- Answer the following questions on your Activity Word/Google Doc 

 

Use the reference page on your Word/Google Doc for this activity. 

Make sure your citations are in alphabetic order. Check the citations against the APA Style guide. Correct any errors from the automatically generated citations. Under each citation -- type Corrections and note what changes you had to make (for example -- Corrections: I corrected the title / I added the DOI number). If no corrections are needed type: Correction: None
