Library materials acquisitions and purchases
The collection development unit of Hamersly Library is responsible for the purchase and acquisition of library materials, as well as the policies guiding those acquisitions. The unit has three main subunits: Acquisitions, Archives and Interlibrary Loan.
Acquisitions is involved in acquiring print and electronic resources to support curricular and research needs on campus as well as allocating and maintaining the budget collections budget and receiving new materials as they arrive in the library.
Archives generally consists of two collections: the University Archives and the Straub Archives. The Straub Archives are a collection of papers, memorabilia and personal items donated or on long-term loan to the archives by the family of former Oregon Governor, Robert Straub. The University Archives includes information and items documenting the University's past. Yearbooks, souvenirs, posters, photos and other items are available for students, historians and others to utilize.
Interlibrary Loan is the resource sharing branch of collection development. Items not owned by WOU are not inaccessible to our patrons and the staff in interlibrary loan work hard to locate copies to borrow. See the Interlibrary Loan page for more detail.
