How to make Transparencies on Library Printers & Photocopiers

Printers

It is not possible to control all circumstances on a shared, networked printer. There is a small chance that another person can send a print job which could print on your transparency. Read all the instructions below before starting. Follow these steps carefully. Ask the staff for assistance.

A. Buy the correct transparency for laser-inkjet printing at the WOU Bookstore.

B. Prepare your document or image for printing.

When you are ready to print, use the software program's File-Print menu.

1. Select a Single-Sided printer in the Print Dialog box. Note - We recommend printing only one transparency at a time.

2. Click on the Preferences (or Properties) button.

3 & 4. Change the Paper Source to Tray 1 (Manual) and click OK.

5. Click on Print (or OK) in the dialog box. Then go immediately to the printer.

C. Use Tray 1

Follow the instructions below to properly place your transparency in Tray 1.

At the Printer:

1. At the printer stand, look for the printer with a red light - the LCD panel will indicate "Manual Feed." This means the printer is ready for your transparency.

2. Open Tray 1 on the printer.

3. Insert a transparency with the smooth side DOWN.

Note - We recommend loading only one transparency at a time into Tray 1.

4. The printer will automatically feed the transparency.
